Parents were in 15h range, she should mature 14.3-15h best guess
Maizy is quick, caddy, and smart as a whip and will need a strong experienced rider. She isn’t mean or crazy but she will overreact if she thinks she needs to. Hence, not for a beginner. She’s … too smart. She knows her groundwork, she’s been saddled, and knows everything that a horse her age should know as far as basics.
***NOT started under saddle due to pregnancy
She ponies off horses and 4 wheeler, stands tied, trailers, bathes, been trimmed regularly her whole life, she has been in pasture since she was born, but has been stalled a few times on occasion. She’s lived on barbed wire and smooth hot wire. Never seen her chew on wood, not a cribber either.
Never took a lame step, clean legs, never been sick.
She’s definitely more dominant in a herd setting. She comes to a whistle for the most part, we don’t catch our horses with grain or treats. Can catch her anywhere for the most part.
Performance home will be ideal for her, I will not even consider a “first horse” home. She needs a job and consistency. Cutting, reining, cowhorse, barrels, rodeo, or ranching. Anything that’ll make her mind think of the job.
Plenty of video and photos we raised her since a weanling. Her dam and sire were both in the 15h range and built like tanks.

2 reasons for moving her - we are a gelding family, and she’s going to need more of a job setting than we can offer. No fault of hers, doing what’s best for her.

- Stands tied, doesn’t commit to pulling back when scared
- Picks up feet for farrier
- Hops right in the stock trailer
- Bathed & blanketed
- Respects barbed wire and hot fence
- Easy keeper so far
- Few cosmetic scrapes
- Only real “injury” was she got quilled this winter in the nose. She was a doll at the vet and isn’t shy to her face thankfully.
- Born & raised in pasture mainly, knows how to travel and place her feet
- Never taken a lame step
- Been stalled a few times for practice
- Doesn’t chew wood/crib/wind suck
- She is boss mare unless someone puts her in her place
- Easy to catch without incentive, comes to a whistle for me, she will follow lead if other horses run, comes to grain without question if you have it.
